At the time of a private consultation, Dr. Stevens will listen to you describe what it is about your ears that troubles you. He will then examine your ears and discuss what can realistically be accomplished through surgery and share with you how the ears should appear. His goal is to reposition and/or reshape the ears in harmony with your other facial features and create a natural looking appearance.
A private consultation with Dr. Stevens allows you the opportunity to pose questions about the procedure in a relaxed, comfortable environment. You will also appreciate knowing that your questions will receive thoughtful and complete explanations.
Consideration of the Pediatric Patient.
For consultations with young children and teens, Dr. Stevens offers a caring, non-threatening environment. Moreover, he encourages an open expression of the child's feelings and concerns about the surgery during the consultation as well as participation by the parent or guardian. His many years of experience with pediatric patients has demonstrated that an extra measure of nurturing can ease the emotional and psychological trauma of surgery.
These Web pages provide an overview of what you can expect and how otoplasty is performed. No document can address all of your concerns nor supplant the benefit of a private consultation. If you, or your child, are considering ear surgery and have questions or want to make an appointment to discuss how your (or your child's) appearance might benefit from cosmetic surgery, email Dr. Stevens or contact the Plastic Surgery and Laser Center.
