Dr. Stevens injects a very small amount of Botox® into the facial muscle using a fine needle. The discomfort is minimal and temporary, and therefore local anesthetics are not used. Many patients describe the sensation of the injection into the muscle as "mild stinging."
Minor bleeding is fairly common, especially in the more vascular areas of the face. Mild bruising at the injection site may also occur.
The treatment takes three to five days to take effect and the effects of the drug last between four and six months.
